Our Community

Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP (LBLCO) has always had a strong sense of community and community involvement. Since our beginning in 1940, our firm has been committed to serving the community in which we live and work.

Our outreach to our community and community involvement takes many shapes—from a charity-of-the-month program to firm-wide goals for community service hours. We also participate in the development of new business opportunities in our area.

For years the community has given us its trust and business. We believe the best way to say thanks is to share our knowledge and expertise to help create prosperity for all.

Support for Emerging Businesses

Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP continues to believe in and support emerging businesses. LBLCO also supports minority owned businesses through our strategic alliance with the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA, www.meda.net).  We provide accounting and consulting work at a significant discount for MEDA clients.

MEDA was founded in 1971 by a group of executives from some major Twin Cities corporations. To combat the issues of poverty, crime and unemployment in minority communities, MEDA founders agreed to foster self-sufficiency by assisting minority entrepreneurs to develop the skills to start and grow successful businesses.

LBLCO has contributed time and business expertise to a large number of MEDA clients throughout the years of our affiliation with MEDA. Since 1971, MEDA has assisted in the start-up of hundreds of ethnic minority businesses and has provided business-consulting services to well over 11,000 ethnic minority businesses.
