Lurie Besikof
Lapidus & Company, LLP, has a long-standing tradition of providing
internship opportunities.
Recruiting for
the Assurance and Tax divisions occurs during the months of August
and September. Interviews take place at several Twin City area universities.
Members of our Accounting and Audit and Tax departments conduct
interviews and intern candidates are invited to our office to meet
with members of our "Recruit The Best" team. Two to three
interns are selected for the program each year.
Internships
typically begin in early January and are completed between March
30th and April 15th, depending on the students school schedules.
Interns work a 40-hour week and are compensated on a salaried, plus
overtime, basis.
Students begin
LBLCO internships with a week-long training session that allows
them to get hands-on sample experience prior to starting
client engagements. Interns are scheduled to work side-by-side with
staff and managers on client work. Work is done either at our office
or on-site at the clients location.

My internship at Lurie Besikof Lapidus was an excellent opportunity for professional, academic, and personal development. Two aspects made my experience particularly valuable: the exposure and the people. As an intern in the Tax Department, I was exposed to a wide variety of projects, which differed client-to-client by type (individual or business returns), industry, size, and tax issues. The exposure gave me the hands-on experience and client interaction that many college students never see. Also, the staff, management, and partners were accessible and willing to fully explain why and how to treat specific issues. The perfect mix of hands-on learning and work experience made my experience a valuable learning opportunity.

One of the most important things in any business is the people, and during the duration of my internship I found my co-workers at LBL to be friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Even through the stress of one of the busiest tax seasons people still found time to enjoy themselves and lighten the mood. Everyone at LBL was willing to work with me to make sure I knew what I was doing and the reasons behind the actions. I value the experience that I gained in dealing with different tax issues that I was exposed to. My schedule was very flexible which allowed for a good balance between school and work. I found my internship at Lurie Besikof Lapidus to be beneficial in many ways.
