Career Stepping Stones

Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP is a large regional firm that is the perfect size to offer a variety of work. Plus employees work closely with other Firm members, including Partners, on an array of clients.

The Firm does not use formal titles for positions at the staff level. Formal titles are used for employees at the manager or director level. Below are expectations the Firm has for staff accountants in our Audit and Accounting and Tax Departments:

Entry-Level – Staff who possess core knowledge of accounting/audit or tax, are willing to learn, with a 4-year college degree.

Experienced Staff – Staff who have more client responsibility, can complete tasks with minimal supervision.

In-Charge Staff – Staff who run client engagements, supervise staff and have the responsibility for completing an engagement for review.

Tax Directors and Managers – Tax Directors and Managers have board knowledge of tax laws and procedures. They are able to review complex returns and complete complex tax research.

Audit Directors and Managers – Audit Directors and Managers have extensive knowledge of accounting theory and practice. They supervise and train staff and oversee entire client engagements.

Niches

Due to the Firm’s size and the dedication of the Partners and staff and the needs of our clients, LBLCO has developed several practice niches: Professional Services, Employee Benefits and HR Consulting, Turnaround Solutions, Technology Services, Litigation Support, Valuation, Trust Accounting and Estate Planning, Accounting Services and Predictive Index™. Members of the staff are able to become specialists in specific areas of any niche, therefore providing professional development for them as well as the opportunity for becoming an expert source for Firm members.

Mentor Program

This voluntary program’s mission is to provide assistance to participants in reaching their personal and career goals by orienting mentees; through mentor coaching; and through providing a communication link between the mentor program participants and the Firm. Staff members are invited to join the Mentor Program after 6-months with the Firm. Mentees are asked to select a Mentor from several Partners, directors and managers who have volunteered to provide guidance in a mentor relationship. This is an invaluable program that is available to staff to help in building their careers at LBLCO.
