Applying for a Federal ID Number Online:

It is now possible to get your EIN instantly from the IRS. Please note that you must complete this application in one session, as you will not be able to save and return at a later time.

Furthermore, it is helpful if you have the required information before you get started. To understand what information may be required for filing the SS-4, you can view a copy of the application in paper form by logging onto the IRS website at www.irs.gov under “Most Requested Forms and Publications” (Form SS-4).

Steps:

• Log-on to the IRS website at www.irs.gov
• Under Online Tools, click on “More Online Tools”.
• Click on “Online EIN Application”.
• Click on “apply online now” located near the bottom of the page.
• Click on “begin application”, which will then take you through five different areas to complete.
