Joel is a Partner at Lurie Besikof Lapidus & Company, LLP and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He specializes in providing tax and consulting services to manufacturers, distributors, real estate, and service companies in all areas of business, including: compensation systems, financial structure, taxation and other business matters. Joel is also the lead Partner of our China Strategies Consulting group, where he works directly with various organizations at different levels in both the public and private sectors in China.
Joel joined the firm in 1975 after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Accounting. He then earned his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law.
Joel has served the Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA) for 23 years as a volunteer and a board member. He has been honored as MEDA’s Volunteer of the Year, and has also received the Small Business Administration’s award for Minority Business Advocate. Joel also serves as a member of the University of Minnesota’s China Center Advisory Counsel, where he continues to assist the Center in bridging their activities to the business community. He is also on the High-Tech and Grand Prize review boards for the Minnesota Cup competition. Joel is a member of the Tax Twenty Round Table, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA), as well as the American Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
